Aloha from sunny Hawaii! I have been guiding fly fishers here in Hawaii for over 9 years, and my son Joaquin has been guiding for 5 years. I was a fly guide in Turangi New Zealand for both trout and saltwater species for nearly 20 years, and Joaquin was born in NZ and has been fly fishing since age 4. He is a keen spear-fisher, free diver, surfer, and all round water guy. He has been guiding for our monster bonefish here in Honolulu for almost 5 years. His fly creations are very inventive, and super effective, and he can cast a mile, and is the hardest working, and most personable guide in Hawaii. You will greatly enjoy his company and expertise. We both try our best to concentrate on sight fishing whenever conditions permit, and we both have uncanny “bonefish eyes” and can spot approaching bonefish long before 90% of our clients, to increase your chances of making the right cast.

Our style of guiding is the classic service, where the guide is by your side all day, making sure you get a shot at every opportunity. We fish all the flats on Oahu, and often use a kayak (5 to 10 minute ride) to access some flats that are not fished much. When conditions don’t permit good sight fishing we set you up in hot spots, learned through years of experience here, where blind casting will often produce hookups on passing bonefish. Our bonefish average about 6 pounds, with many 8 to 10 pounders landed every year. My biggest is over 13 pounds, and I know of one landed on a fly about 17 to 18 pounds. We all practice strict catch and release here.

We can supply all gear at no charge, TFO rods, flies etc, but suggest you have your own wading boots as ours might not fit well. You will also need good Polaroid sunglasses. For great shades, I suggest you look at www.habervision.com, and if you use my affinity code name PAPIO, you can get a 50% discount! Amber lenses are the best all around color. You will also need a good sunhat, sunscreen, and be prepared to be wading in our warm tropical crystal clear waters all day.
We supply lunch and bottled water as well. We will pick you up at any Honolulu hotel, and can suggest some good budget deals. We also will point you in the right direction for some DIY after fishing with us, including hot spots right in Waikiki, surfer girls paddling by while you fish!! Hope to see you here! Mahalo and tightlines, Louie the Fish!!.
